He calls me on my work phone at about 12:55 this afternoon asking me to meet him for lunch. He says that he will give me 1 minute to gather my things and leave the building. He tells me to take a right outside of my building and head towards my old job and he will call again with more details. I leave and I’m walking. He calls again and says to just listen and follow his instructions precisely. I listen – he says “take a right at the next block and then take a left onto Newbury Street and walk a block. After the first set of lights on that block look for the first restaurant you see on your right hand side of the street and go inside, sit down and order something to drink!
I do as I am told. I go inside this French Restaurant named Bouchee. The hostess asks me if I would like to sit outside or inside. I opt for inside. Although it’s beautiful and warm outside today, it’s also windy as hell. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful yet very unpretentious. I sit and wait. He calls and instructs me to order a drink, I ask him what he would like to drink he says nothing. I order and wait. Suddenly I see him surface from the stairs - he walks over and says hi. He sits down and drinks my glass of chardonnay.
The excitement of this meeting has me all kinds of crazy inside. This is so special to me. The man has me guessing his next move. I’m blushing and I have crazy butterflies in my stomach. We sit for about 15 minutes. He drinks my wine and we don’t order lunch. He calls for the check, he pays, and we leave. I’m puzzled!!!! Our next stop is to listen to live jazz right on Newbury Street. We listen for about 10 minutes. I’m thinking these Asian guys are good – really good. I’m also thinking what is this man up to? He asks me if I’m ready to leave I say yes. Again we are off. Our final destination is Stephanie’s on Newbury, one of my most favorite restaurants in Boston. He orders me a glass of the wine he drank at the French restaurant, except this time I get to actually taste it and drink it all – oh and I order lunch finally.
I stare at him in amazement. He is so romantic. Everything about him is romance. I smile and stare. I haven’t stopped smiling or blushing even now as I’m writing this blog. I can’t help it. He keeps me so in love with him. To you, reader, this may be nothing to me this lunch date was the most exciting. I have never had anyone pay so much attention to me. This man is amazing……
